Love this 30 mile ride. Solo today and kept my average over 20mph! Have never been able to do that until this summer!

Decent Negative splits towards the end. Need to keep adding distance. Dexter-Ann Arbor half marathon first weekend in June!

Detroit Critical Mass! Wayne State, Eastern Market, Greektown, Corktown, Mexicantown, etc. What an awesome ride with 270+ other bikers.

A new awesome loop around Ann Arbor. Need to figure out the part down around State st and Huron and Ellsworth a little better. But a beautiful 30 miler. Thanks for showing me the west side Joe!

Today the weather was forecast to be really bad. “tornado watch, 70mph wind gusts, and 2” hail” So I decided to workout inside and do the P90x cardio tape. There are still no clouds in the sky and its warm, and with a nice cool breeze…oh well.
The Cardio X routine is basically a p90x greatest hits. With good routines from Yoga, Plyometrics, Kenpo, and more. At 45 minutes long, it seems like it would be a decent workout, but as you can see, the stretching and yoga take up the first 15+ minutes, and you don’t really get your heart rate up until around halfway through. Turns out it is designed as a supplemental workout and that’s probably how it should be used.
And next time I will be a bit more skeptical of the weather…

Great run today, wasn’t feeling it so much at first, but got some motivation in me about half way through and really picked it up towards the end. Not sure where it came from, maybe all the snacks I ate this afternoon at work kicking in.
Temperature was nice to run in. 50s and overcast haha. We’ve been getting a lot of that this spring…wouldn’t mind a little more sunshine.

Forget previous post. Took a look at the weather forecast and had to get out on this beautiful spring night at least for a bit. Olson park is just a mile or two away for some pretty tame trail riding. I don’t think my GPS is quite accurate enough, but you’ll get the picture. It’s right next to the highway…hardly any elevation at all, haha, so not quite the nature I crave, but it is close and convenient for a quick fix.

On my way out there, I must not have seen this herd of deer (picture taken on my return trip) because before I knew it I had 4 deer within 10 feet of me sprinting away in different directions. I must have horrified them. I know I am pretty intimidating in my helmet and jersey…On my way back home, they were in about the same area, so I rode by much slower and they hardly seemed to notice me.

A run yesterday after a night of 4 hours of sleep, 45 minutes of yoga in the morning and 3 hours shoveling out in the sun at an urban farm in Detroit…definitely exhausted as this was intentioned to be a 5 miler. However, I quickly lost momentum and was probably reaching severely diminishing returns; more harm than good.
Since today was another super early morning, it will probably be my first real legitimate rest day in 20 days. I’m gonna sit here on this couch and watch a movie. HAPPY EASTER AND GOODNIGHT!

Whitmore Lake Loop!

30 mile bike ride today. 50 degrees and sunny. Definitely should have worn long sleeves, but the sun lured me out in my short sleeve jersey. Just the standard 30ish mile circuit today. Went out with my friend Alex and made great time around the loop.

I think my heart rate monitor was messed up half the time…or at least I hope so, seeing myself top out at 246bpm and averaging 175bpm is nowhere near characteristic of a bike ride for me.

Still too cold.
